Abstract

This study was conducted with the aim of monitoring the importance of chemical waste entering the environment in terms of paying attention to the waste management components of the science laboratory textbook. This study examined waste management in five components. The results show that the highest frequency of waste is related to the chemistry section. In examining the importance coefficient of the components, it was determined that the coefficient of the "removal" component was the highest and the coefficients of the "disposal" and "purification" components were the lowest. In other words, the authors paid more attention to the category of removal and gave less importance to the components of waste disposal and purification. It is suggested that when examining the content of science laboratory textbooks, in addition to eliminating the source of contamination of low-risk experiments, all components of waste management, including waste disposal and purification methods, be carefully considered.
